Civil War includes: Road to Civil War and tie-ins & Civil
War The Initiative. The introduction of a Superhuman Registration
Act in the United States. The act requires any person in the
United States with superhuman abilities to register with the
federal government (and revealing his/her true identity to
the authorities) and receive proper training. Superheroes
split into two groups: one group advocating the registration
as a responsible obligation and the other group opposing the
law on the grounds that it violates civil rights and the protection
that secret identities provide.
Civil War ties in with House of M, in which the mutant superhero
Scarlet Witch suffers a breakdown and alters the fabric
of reality. The world has changed: Spider-Man is married
to Gwen Stacy in New York; Cyclops and Emma Frost are married;
Dr. Strange is a psychologist; Carol Danvers—known usually
as Ms. Marvel—is now Captain Marvel, America's most beloved
superhero; Gambit is a criminal; and Steve Rogers is an aged
veteran. Only Wolverine remembers the change. Both DVD-ROM's
feature a large cast of Marvel characters.
